Nature Explorers Day Camp - Summer Day Camp at Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge

Don’t miss this unique chance to explore wilderness in your neighborhood. Join the Fish and Wildlife Refuge Staff and Friends groups at the Assabet River NWR with 2,300 acres of protected land and a new Visitor Center. The camp is suitable for children 8-12 years old.

In this new three day program, children will:

  • Learn about the local habitats at the refuge and their role in conservation.
  • Engage in hands-on nature based activities and team building.
  • Focus on “Wacky Wetlands”, a day of learning and discovery about our unique wetlands and the creatures that live within them.
  • Learn how to fish.
  • Learn nature photography from local photographer Dave Griffin with a special 2 hour close out open house for families and friends in the afternoon.

The program intends to connect children to their local national wildlife refuge and learn about its importance to people and to wildlife. The participants will stay connected throughout the school year.

Fee for registration is $150 and will cover supplies and the hiring of local teen counselors. Each registrant gets a complimentary one year family membership to the Friends groups. Each child is expected to bring a snack and lunch each day, we will provide water.

Please call 978-443-4661 x34 to register by April 8, 2010. Click here for the details.
